Building FemHealth Data Collaborative in Assam

India is home to over 696 million women, yet critical gaps remain in women’s health, including maternal and reproductive health, anaemia, cancer, malnutrition, adolescent pregnancy, mental health and gender-based violence. Fragmented datasets and limited interoperability across public systems constrain evidence-based policymaking and responsive health solutions for women and children.

To address this, we are developing the FemHealth Data Collaborative, as part of the UNICEF Office of Innovation Femtech Ventures cohort, piloting an integrated data ecosystem for women’s health in Assam.

It has also been formally accepted as a global commitment under the Commit2Data initiative, led by Open Data Watch and PARIS21 in the lead-up to the United Nations World Data Forum 2026. The initiative aims to strengthen inclusive and interoperable gender data ecosystems, promote responsible AI in governance, and advance evidence-based policymaking.

Our Collaborative will bring together changemakers across intersections of women’s health and wellbeing to access, analyse and contribute critical datasets to better understand and address issues related to women and girls wellbeing in Assam. We strive to bring together changemakers across sectors to analyse & publish datasets, collate data use-cases, apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques, and share knowledge for improving women’s health outcomes and mobilise resources for the most urgent needs in Assam. The platform will be open source and modular, built on scalable architecture.
