CivicSabha 2.0 - Data & Responsible AI for Resilient Climate-Health Ecosystems

Context:

Climate change is an increasingly significant public health challenge, with hazards such as extreme heat, storms, and disease outbreaks posing growing risks to health systems worldwide. Nearly half of the global population lives in climate-vulnerable regions, and climate disruptions are already affecting health outcomes and healthcare infrastructure. However, climate and health data systems remain fragmented and poorly integrated. Bridging this gap requires stronger digital infrastructure (DPI) and responsible use of AI to enable better policy planning and public health decision-making.

CivicDataLab (CDL), along with Pasteur Network and PATH, as knowledge partners convened a roundtable discussion on "Data and Responsible AI for Resilient Climate-Health Ecosystems", as part of CivicSabha 2.0, on how data and responsible artificial intelligence (AI) can support more anticipatory responses to climate-related health risks. The session was chaired by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The discussion brought together experts from CEEW, TERI, World Bank, PATH, policy practitioners, researchers, multilateral organisations, international NGOs and think tanks, public health experts, and data scientists working at the intersection of climate, health, and technology.
